Small Groups

Our small groups program (called Oasis Small Groups) is designed to gather people who share a common interest into fellowship and the practice of spiritual disciplines, such as prayer, study of scriptures, service to others, and mutual support. Our current small groups are listed below, but new ones are forming often. All of our groups are open to new participants. If you have an idea for a new small group, contact the church office or a member of Session.

Our Fellowship Committee brings people together through activities and group gatherings. This committee sponsors a monthly potluck after the 2nd service on the 2nd Sunday of the month. They also plan, prepare, and staff meals for our annual congregational meeting, our Easter Breakfast, our Strawberry Festival, our Church Picnic, and the Advent Festival. It’s not just about the food, though, this committee also organizes fun activities for the whole family, such as the annual Road Rally and trips to Toledo for Mud Hens games. Check out the “What’s Happening Now and on the Horizon” tab for details on upcoming activities.

Our Elders form our Session, our governing body. Each member of session is also responsible for heading one of our committees or ministry teams. In addition, it is an important goal of our Session to encourage and support each congregant in discerning his or her personal call to ministry. Session seeks to aid new ministries in forming under the direction of our Mission Statement and our Guiding Principles. We delight in serving God together! If you feel God is calling you toward a new or existing ministry, please do not hesitate to contact a member of Session.

Board of Deacons

Our Deacons consider it a privilege to serve our congregation and are striving to stay in touch with every member/family. Each Deacon is there to address the individual concerns of the families he or she supports. Please do not hesitate to contact your Deacon, should a need arise.

Deacons aid in serving communion during worship services and bring communion to those confined to their homes, if requested. Our Deacons also join our Fellowship Committee in organizing meals for funeral or other special services. In addition, our Deacons provide the following:

Flowers for our worship services (via volunteer sign-up)

Recordings of our worship services

Rosebuds for newly born children

Our member directory

Our prayer circle

Our card ministry (outreach to those who are ill, have suffered a loss, etc.)

Advent Season “Love Baskets” (sending food and love to those who have had a difficult year)

Organization of volunteers for driving those who have such needs

Organization of meals provided in times of need

Organization of boxes of cookies sent to college students and to military personnel.
